Principal’s Message
When parents and our many visitors come into Clover Park Middle School and Te Whanau o Tupuranga they comment on the warmth, the friendliness of our students and the welcoming atmosphere. They particularly note the strong relatio
nships students have with their teachers and each other.
Education and learning are changing and our children’s futures will be very different from what we know now. We need to be able to prepare our young people for this information rich, multicultural, global age where technology brings the world to our doorstep. In this future knowing who you are and where you fit is going to be a crucial skill. This is the foundation of our schools’ philosophy.
While our children are growing into young adults, our programmes help them explore their natural talents and experience new ideas and opportunities. In our academic programmes they learn valuable skills and knowledge, covering the full national curriculum for years 7 to 10 in Clover Park Middle School and Years 7 to 13 in Te Whanau o Tupuranga.
Both our schools are accredited with NZQA to deliver NCEA courses and we begin this study in Year 10.
In a wide range of other activities and responsibilities, in the classroom, in performance arts, outdoors and on the sports-field our students learn about leadership, teamwork and support. Our schools are recognised leaders in technology and computers, in bilingual education, in middle schooling and in education that is responsive to Maori and Pasifika learners.
Te Whanau o Tupuranga has been established as a strong presence on the CIover Park campus for over 20 years. In 2006 Tupuranga evolved into a school in its own right, providing a Maori learning environment for students right through to Year 13.
Both schools attract a wide range of visitors from within NZ and overseas to learn about our philosophy in practice. In 2008 and 2009 we have finally completed our huge construction project and now offer state-of-the-art facilities and a learning environment that has won major architectural awards.
I feel privileged every day to be the principal of two such innovative schools and invite you to visit Clover Park or Te Whanau o Tupuranga to discuss with my staff or me, your child's learning pathway.
