Graduate Profiles
Our Curriculum and Our Graduate Profiles
Te Marautanga o Aotearoa is the partner document of The New Zealand Curriculum. It has been developed for Maori medium settings levels 1 and 2, however all New Zealand schools can utilise this document in their respective schools. It is not a translation of The New Zealand Curriculum and was developed based on Maori philosophies and principles.
Te Whanau o Tupuranga & Clover Park Middle School “mix” is to work across both documents in both schools.
· We use Te Marautanga for its Rationale, Principles, Attitudes/Values, and to develop Graduate Profiles –– because of their fit with our schools’ philosophy and direction for our Maori and Pasifika learners:
o Culturally responsive
o Identity is central
o Other knowledge i.e. cultural knowledges are valued and integrated – advocates a Maori world-view (and can be adapted to Pasifika world-views)
o Built on whanau
o emphasises the socio-cultural aspects and wider political context of teaching and learning.
o primary aim is that the learner will be confident in the M?ori world (Pasifika worlds)
o Develop Graduate Profiles
·
Graduate Profiles describe the attributes and characteristics we expect our students to develop by the end of Years 8 and 10 (both schools) and Year 13 (Tupuranga).
An overview of our Graduate Profiles is shown on the range of T-Shirts in the slide-show below.
